Vanguard Project- They’re Back!

Vanguard Project are back with a brilliant 5 track EP Identity Crisis featuring the likes of Dexcell, Pat Fulgoni and Leo Wood. Released on Rotterdam based underground label Focuz recordings, when I saw that I knew guaranteed this was going to be brilliant. Since it’s conception in the late 90’s Focuz recordings have been at the forefront of the DnB scene favouring in my opinion the more ambient intelligent drum and bass sound and this release contextually is no different. Identity Crisis feat Dexcell is a chunky bass number with a host of electronic strings flowing together to work its way up to some tasty breaks with vocals punctuated in between. Still Together is a wonderful chilled affair with Pat Fulgoni gracing his velvety vocals on this beauty. Summer nights on a terrace is the imagery this track invokes with its tinkering medley of bells, staccato drums accompanied by a wonderful synth that will permeate your chest and grab your heart. That leads onto Rise and Fall featuring the powerful vocals of Leo Wood. A serious atmospheric roller that is meditative, brooding and melodic all at the same time. Remembrance has flashes of jazzy brilliance while the bonus track Fallout (Available on Digital Formats) starts off innocently enough

with piano and brass chords before dropping into some disgusting (in a good way!) sledgehammer bass filled with dramatic effects throughout. It is usually a given when Vanguard Project (Bcee & Villem) drop a release it is going to be great sound engineered genius and this certainly delivers. Put the date in your diary for the official release people I have!
